Awesome food, great terrace seating at Nirvana New York Tokyo

By on July 16, 2018

Famed as a pioneer of modern Indian cuisine, Nirvana won the unanimous praise of foodies in the Big Apple.

However, in the fickle world of restaurants, some have more staying power than the others. While the New York restaurant has closed since, NIRVANA NEW YORK TOKYO at Midtown Roppongi is still growing strong. Thanks to a growing local and foreign clientele who can’t get enough of curry meals.

This reincarnation of the New York restaurant marries contemporary styling with classic Indian cooking methods to create modern Indian cuisine. Organic ingredients blend with traditional Indian spices, giving a diverse and fresh style.

The Midtown location commands beautiful views across Hinokimachi Park and the modern, spacious, light-filled restaurant compliments the delicately spiced menu.

Entering through the red framed door, the restaurant’s high ceilings and large windows redefine the image of an Indian restaurant, not a flocked wall in sight.

Unlike the decor, the menu’s dishes are rooted in tradition but push the culinary boundaries. Flavours and textures explode in the mouth with enticing combinations such as tandori abalone and chicken tikka.

The menu includes seriously mouthwatering dishes, roasted peppers stuffed with potato, swordfish tikka with lemon quarters and tandori specialities such as lamb chops, chicken and king prawn. If you can’t make your mind up, which is a very real possibility, the restaurant serves set lunches and dinners that offer a well rounded selection. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian courses are available, taking the strain out of group ordering.

Nirvana provides a peaceful family environment that satisfies everyone. As a family, the lunch buffet is a delight. Sensibly priced with special prices for juniors and seniors and offering a selection of curries varying in intensity, a typical selection includes chicken masala, dal tadka, tandori chicken with a daily egg dish and sauteed vegetables, nan, rice, delicate appetizers and a range of desserts.

If you’re looking for somewhere different that offers wonderful food, great views, a comfortable, sophisticated environment but not too much that kids feel out of place, then Nirvana is heaven sent.
