Summer remedies

Moms everywhere are getting into the exotic meditative practice of Yoga. For an hour or so a day, mothers stretch away the problems of home. Where does that leave the curious kids absorbing the stress of the world around them? Enter Little Namaste, a slice of nirvana in the concrete jungle, introducing children (from one month to 12 years) to the world of balancing body and soul.

The studio lures mothers for a variety of reasons. What proves most popular are the lessons conducted by founder Angie Bow, a licensed yoga instructor for children, which is filled with activities that promote a happy youth, stronger body, and peaceful upbringing. Another benefit that pleases the moms is the networking; interacting with fellow mothers while their kids find inner peace, and the conversations in English provide great practice for non-native speakers.

Now, who says enlightenment is just for grown ups?

Say goodbye to unwanted hair!

POWERLITE HAIR REMOVAL

This is the most popular treatment in summer. Revolutionary Powerlite treatment utilizes intense pulse light and removes unwanted hair on any part of the body. This non-invasive procedure treats not only the hair itself but also the follicle. Pulsed light addresses a large number of hair follicles simultaneously leaving no  damage to the skin. The result is hair removed, hair reduced without any discomfort, side effects or downtime. In only a few visits, tweezing, waxing, and shaving unwanted hair will be a thing of the past. Completely safe and painless.

“I had two hair removal sessions for my armpits and bikini line, and am very happy with the results. The hair literally started to fall out a week and a half after the treatment. Amazing! Only 2 sessions and I have visible hair reduction, have no more irritation after I shave, and actually I have to shave less as hair became thinner and grow much slower. As I was told the equipment at Scandinavia Salon can be adjusted to treat fairly light hair, which can rarely  be found in Japanese salons. This is the main reason I chose this place. I was very anxious during my first treatment, but felt no pain at all! The bottom line – love the result, love the staff and am thinking to start hair removal session for my legs as well. Would recommend it to everyone.” – Maria, 28

Say hello to a new you!

POWERLITE PHOTO FACIAL

Powerlite PhotoFacial is a fast and safe anti-aging treatment that increases natural production of collagen, resulting in overall skin rejuvenation. Powerlite PhotoFacial restores sun damaged skin and improves age spots, skin texture, enlarged pores, broken capillaries, rosacea, acne, fine lines, and wrinkles. Others on offer are  facial treatments such as Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peel, Lifting Facial. These effective and safe procedures boost the skin’s rejuvenation process, improve the skin’s complexion, correct the face line, have an amazing lifting effect and allow the skin to regain resilience and restore moisture balance.

“I have just discontinued my trips to the beauty clinic due to the recession until I found an equally effective alternative – the Scandinavia Medical Salon. The first treatment I had was through a Powerlite Photo Facial to reduce pore size and give my skin a lift. The process took only 40 minutes. The overall sensation with each flash of light was similar to a mosquito bite and completely painless. The result? My skin looked different and pore size improved. With thorough sun protection for a week, the fine lines all the more improved. I was told the treatment requires 4 sessions. The cost of doing the treatment at Scandinavia is 3 times lower than what I was paying for in another clinic therefore cost and benefit-wise, Scandinavia Medical Salon is where I will go for my next treatment.” – Caroline, 52

Cellulites

Cellulite is a dimpled skin condition in men and women appearing after puberty most annoyingly on  the lower hips down to the thigh areas. Although considered normal and not a skin disorder in men and women, its uneven appearance can cause irritation and dampen one’s self confidence. Of course, there are quick fixes like creams and various exercise regimens as choices, but do not offer dramatic results.

Why IPL?

Contrary to some theories, cellulite is not only caused by fat but by collagen. As one ages and collagen production weakens, the skin’s suppleness deteriorates and allows entry of stubborn fat called cellulite.  IPL stimulates collagen production and improves skin condition.

Results

Depending on the individual‘s condition and supplemental remedies, the treatment can last about a year.

Skin Disorders

What does IPL Photofacial treat?

Rosacea is characterized by the reddening of the skin in the forehead, chin, cheekbones and the nose also known as erythema. The redness is created by the swelling of blood vessels. Reseach surveys indicate that this occurs mostly in caucasians and nearly three times as common in women than men. People from 30-50 years of age are mostly affected.  IPL laser treatment can alleviate the problem but  usually requires an additional 1-2 sessions on a  3-week interval. Flareups are likely, and depending on your actual condition, engaging in follow-up treatments may be recommended by your doctor. Over time, rosacea symptoms are likely to cause other problems like skin bumps that appear larger and swollen on the cheeks and nose area so nipping the problem in the bud early will save you from more worries.

Large pores, fine age lines, skin sag due to aging, smoking and environmental conditions give way to large pores. IPL works in combatting further deterioration by stimulating collagen production and skin tightening.

Acne, sunspots, frequency and level of exposure to the sun c
n trigger the occurrence of excess pigmentation on th
skin. IPL is the non-invasive treatment that helps clear spots up, and unlike laser, gives better and faster results.  Depending on the severity of the condition, treatments can last anywhere from 5-6 sessions.

Hairless in Summer

Summer is the time of the year when most women wear less make-up, go sleeveless, collarless, and stockingless to bare more skin for comfort.    Some who were born hairy will want to tidy up those unwanted places for comfort and to look and feel fresh and pleasant.

In a fast-paced lane where mums are forever on the go tending to kids’ and husbands’ needs,  24 hours is never enough to spare extra hours to indulge in shaving.

How to get rid of that hair?

Today’s constant evolving technology offers a wide choice of cosmetic procedures but most popularly used by medical practitioners is the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) involving xenon flash lamps and focused optics.

How does it work?

The broad spectrum light flashed onto the skin surface through a hand-held wand emitting light that travels through the skin to go deep to the hair shafts or hair root. When light is converted to heat energy, the roots of the hair shaft are instantly vaporised and hair-producing hair follicle are destroyed. u
