Something fishy

Salmon, commonly referred to as “the oily fish,” has always been regarded as an indispensable  food in Japan.  Not only is salmon rich in omega-3 fatty acids it is also a good source of vitamin D.

Whichever way you eat it, salmon possesses  a rich taste and is enjoyed by both young and old.

There’s nothing as enjoyable and filling yet light to serve for dinner than salmon. Try these quick-to-prepare simple salmon recipes that are sure to please!   Bon appetit!

Salmon, Cajun Style

Ingredients

• 2 tablespoons ground paprika

• 1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper

• 1 tablespoon onion powder

• 1/2 grilled onion

• 2 teaspoons salt

• 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper

• 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

• 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

• 1/4 teaspoon dried basil

• 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

• 4 salmon fillets, skin and bones

    removed (250 grams/fillet)

• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Preparation

1.  Mix paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, salt, white pepper, black pepper, thyme, basil and oregano all together.

2.  Brush salmon fillets on both sides with 1/4 cup softened butter, and sprinkle evenly with the cayenne pepper mixture.

3.  In a large  skillet over high heat, fry salmon, butter side down  2 to 5 minutes or until browned. Turn fillets, drizzle with remaining butter, and continue cooking.  Prick with a toothpick to cook faster.

4.  Serve with your lettuce topped with your favorite salad dressing.

Simple Salmon Dinner

Ingredients

• 2- 3 salmon fillets  (250 grams each)

• A dash of salt

• A dash of pepper

• 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds

• 4 basil leaves per serving

• 1 large Sliced tomato per serving

• 1 Zucchini halved vertically

• Olive oil

• Lettuce

Preparation

1.  Season salmon fillets with salt, pepper, and fennel seeds.

2.  Heat pan and pour 3-4 tablespoons olive oil.

3.  Cook salmon fillet one at a time for about 2-3 minutes on each side.

4.  Slice tomato and zucchini (fry for 2-3 minutes) and arrange on the plate.

5.  Put fried salmon on top of zucchini and lettuce on top of tomato

6.  Garnish with basil leaves and pour your favorite salad dressing on tomato and lettuce.

7.   Serve with French bread or steamed rice.
