57th Annual St. Mary’s Dinner Dance 2012: A HeARTful Evening

The 57th Annual St. Mary’s Dinner Dance will be held on Saturday, March 17th, 2012 from 5pm at the St. Mary’s International School’s gymnasium in Tokyo. Program begins at 6pm. Proceeds go to student programs for all grades and the SMA Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for college-bound seniors.

The dinner dance program, entitled A HeARTful Evening, is focused on the Arts as a theme. The program includes a dance performance by classical ballerina Kika Aoyama of Asami Maki Ballet Tokyo, young kabuki actor Nakamura Umemaru, and Indian folk dancer and founder of the Contemporary Natyam Company, Kyoko Nobi.

Artworks of internationally famous people such as painter Yuki Ninagawa, sculptor Len Makabe, jewelry artist Mayumi Yasugi, painter and graphic designer Sei Shimura, architect and illustrator Edward Suzuki, including the soon-to-be-famous artists from the St Mary’s Elementary School and school alumni have been donated for a live auction. Good news for all ice cream lovers!

On April 14, 2012, Ben & Jerry’s flagship store opens on the first floor of Omotesando Hills according to Unilever Japan. Ben & Jerry’s is a premium brand of ice cream founded in 1978 and currently sells ice cream in 27 countries worldwide. The Ben & Jerry’s brand is loved by many people around the world for its distinctive rich taste, high-quality milk, and a unique menu. 16 ice cream flavours including one made for Japan will be introduced initially.

Spring Gala (Havana Nights)

The American School in Japan is holding a muy caliente evening of upbeat Latin music, tropical dancers, gaming tables, a cigar bar, and delicious Cuban food on Friday, March 16, 2012. The event will take place at the ANA Hotel from 6pm to midnight. Fabulous raffle prizes, silent and live auction items, as well as a prize at the gaming tables await the lucky winners. The Spring Gala is the largest fundraiser by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association. Dress code: cocktail or formal, black tie optional. Tickets ¥21,000.

International Family Festival at ISSH

The International School of the Sacred Heart hosts its 33rd Annual Family Festival on April 14, 2012. International food booths along with carnival games, live entertainment, vendors, and a raffle for exciting prizes will fill ISSH’s newly improved campus in Hiroo on Saturday, April 14 from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine. The 2012 Family Festival will focus on the many vibrant nationalities and cultures that make Tokyo such an exciting place to live.

Part of the proceeds from the Family Festival will be donated to Save Minamisoma Project, a non-profit organization committed to bringing food and safe drinking water directly to the residents of Minamisoma City.
