Kamogawa Sea World
From July 21 – Aug 26 Hakkejima celebrates the Big Summer Festival where over 800 species of 11,000 sea animals are on display. Killer whales, dolphins, sea lions including belugas have prepared a number for every sea animal loving audience to appreciate. If you will be traveling from Tokyo, it is recommended to spend the night at a hotel. Partner hotels are listed on the website. Not recommended for day trips. Station: JR Awakamogawa

Aqua World Oarai Aquarium
Until July 31, visitors will be treated to a special once-in-four-years sea animal competition. Meet the homestays from Humboldt penguins and spotted seals, to tufted puffins. California sea lions and dolphins, together with trainers, do an amusing live diving exhibition until August 31. Station: Oarai Station
