New book for the modern family

Following the success of her ‘Your Family’ series, children’s author Michelle J Forte is getting her readers involved in the launch of her new book about modern families.
Michelle, who lives in Adelaide with her partner Tunde, wrote and illustrated her first book Loved by Two for her one-year-old son, Elliott, after realising there were not enough children’s books that showed the range of families – single parent, same-sex, step-families – that he already encountered in daily interactions.
This realisation inspired the Your Family series of books, which focus on stories about modern families. It’s the support from her readership that has inspired Michelle to crowd-fund the latest book in the series, The Long-legged Stork.
The new book, which will be available June 2014, follows the adventures of the long legged stork who finds a baby without a family. Children can follow him on an exciting journey to find the PERFECT family for the baby.
Aimed at pre-readers through to early readers, The Long-Legged Stork is a great educational tool for childcare centres, kindergartens and primary schools.  Michelle also offers fundraising opportunities with 50 per cent of the profit from the sales given to organisation or group involved.  Contact and enquiries can be made through the Your Family Books website at www.yourfamilybooks.com.au.

I have a happy family with my partner Tunde, our two precious sons Elliott (3), and our very new arrival – Darcy! My passions in life include finding ways to express my inner artistic desires, which I do through various digital mediums, as well as expressing my feelings through writing, drawing and painting. But above all, creating a happy family life has become my number one priority, ensuring that fun and laughter are an every-day part of life! I wrote my first book, Loved By Two, for the benefit of our then one-year-old son, Elliott, and it soon became a sought after book by many families across Australia, and eventually Worldwide!
