The most common issue when foreigners come to Japan is not having easy access to healthcare services due to language problems., a newly launched live concierge site by Healthy IM K.K. hopes to change that. The new service facilitates obtaining healthcare services in the country by providing members with a network of top English-speaking doctors, dentists, wellness coaches and healthy-lifestyle partners. Members receive free introductory sessions with wellness coaches including special discounts and unique offerings for everything from health screenings to spas and organic food.

The foreigner-friendly service comes at a time when the Japanese government is making efforts to attract tourists and skilled professionals to the country by offering easy access to quality healthcare.

“We spent the last two years listening to Japan’s expat community, and they’ve consistently identified a huge need for easily accessible quality healthcare from doctors and dentists fluent in English,” says HealthyIM CEO Michael Bobrove.

“Foreign residents, bilingual Japanese and visitors are also looking for a one-stop
shop for fitness and wellness options such as personal trainers, yoga studios, gyms, organic, vegetarian and health food outlets.”

An experienced team of Wellness Coaches—including personal trainers, nutritionists and other specialists—handle the healthy lifestyle needs of members and offer free introductory consultations and deals on their services. HealthyTokyo members also receive special offers from many Healthy Partners, which include restaurants, gyms, health food stores, massage and spa facilities and other wellness product and service providers.

The site’s Healthy Concierge sets up appointments with healthcare providers and answers questions related to the service.

“Japan has great health services, but they’re sometimes a bit hidden away,” says Dr. Gautam A. Deshpande, a U.S. board-certified physician affiliated with several high- profile institutions in Tokyo. “HealthyTokyo gives patients the power to choose the right healthcare provider for the right problem at the right time.”

Leading Japan fitness expert Charles “Chuck” Wilson echoed Deshpande’s sentiments, as did Danny Risberg, CEO of Philips Electronics Japan. “After over two decades of living in Japan—and spending a large portion of that time focused on the healthcare industry—I’m happy to see that we finally have a system with information of value that the English-speaking community can access,” says Risberg. HealthyIM’s Bobrove adds, “Whether you’re by yourself or have family here, if you want to stay well and strong in fast-paced Japan, joining HealthyTokyo is the healthiest choice you’ll ever make.”

HealthyIM K.K. provides dedicated healthcare and wellness support for expats in Asia through two sites, and is the go-to resource for medical travelers everywhere seeking the right places for diagnosis and treatment in Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore. The newest site,, is the first and only membership community dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of English speakers in Japan.

Founder and CEO Michael Bobrove spent twenty years as an executive in the medical devices and pharmaceuticals industries in Asia, including positions at Nihon Schering K.K. and Bayer HealthCare, and was the president and representative director of Nihon Medrad K.K. for over fourteen years.
