Villa Alpen Ryokan (Shiga Kogen, Nagano)

By on June 7, 2015

Trek or hike across Japan’s wilderness this summer. Stay at Villa Alpen ryokan.

Trekking is a fun way for families to bond together in the summer. Not only are Shiga Kogen’s (Shiga Highlands) 1,500-2,300-meter elevated lands one of the most hospitable terrains in the country, it is also blessed with emerald-green lakes, ponds, national park and several aquatic plants and historical museums. Best known as a world-class resort in winter and the site of the 1998 Nagano Olympics, Shiga Kogen in July, August, and September is, in many ways, just as amazing. The ski resort transforms into a beautiful hiking and trekking spot in the summer.
