Apple’s newly released iOS9 has a feature that could jack up your phone bill

By on October 10, 2015

Apple has offered iPhone users free update to iOS9 after the launch of iPhone 6S.

By default, the new Wi-Fi Assist feature on iOS 9 will automatically switch to LTE when you are in areas with weak radio waves. This means that if you are on a limited data plan, your packet usage could increase and thus result in high phone fees.

To avoid this from happening, disable the feature by going to ‘settings.’ Select ‘cellular’, scroll all the way to the bottom of the menu and you will find ‘Wi-Fi Assist’. Turn that off.
