Kyochon 1991 Fried Chicken

By on December 3, 2015

Col. Sanders faces tough competition this month as Kyochon 1991, a South Korean-based casual fried chicken restaurant opens its first branch in Roppongi ahead of Japan’s ‘fried chicken-snacking’ tradition on Christmas eve.

imageIn 1991, Kyochon started its so-called ‘double-frying’ technique in South Korea involving a rigorous process of extracting fatty oils, glacial acetic acid, sodium saccharine, MSG from the meat and then deep frying it in canola oil with zero transfat.  The result is a crispy fried chicken on the outside and a tender, juicy meat on the inside.

Kyochon’s 4 signature flavors are essentially Asian: original (soy & garlic), red (hot), honey (sweet), and salsal, the Korean version of chicken fingers. Salsal is boneless chicken breast stripes dipped in a special sauce that make for a perfect kiddie snack.  And if you are a ‘just wings’ or ‘just drumstick’ type of diner, this is your place!
