Louis Vuitton Moet Henessy Group reported lower shares in the first quarter of 2016. Could it be because the much coveted luxury bag brand has lost its appeal in Japan due in part to ubiquitous LV canvas knock offs?

LVMH’s big boss Bernard Jean Étienne Arnault has said in an interview that it is scrapping its canvas purses from its portfolio. The canvas bags if you will recall was Louis Vuitton’s golden ticket to fame but counterfeiters have also made it its own industry.

The new series of Louis Vuitton Capucine bags now come in hard-to-replicate Taurillon calf leather similar in texture and quality to another giant French luxury brand, Hermes.

Capucines may not be the first personal item on your fashion update list but these elegant totes would beg to differ.
