Alexander’s Steak House, California’s upscale restaurant opens in November

By on September 14, 2016

Tokyo is a foodie’s happy place for its high quality food and craftsmanship.

Recently, there is a growing trend for foreign restaurateurs and food companies to expand to Tokyo despite its highly sophisticated market. Licensing deals with Japan often come with special conditions to suit the Japanese food standards and taste. New York City patisseur Dominique Ansel who opened his first shop in Tokyo early this year, is one of the few foreign entrepreneurs taking on the challenge. Will Alexander’s Steakhouse do the same?

alexander-steakhouseopens-nov Billed as the gold standard for the classic American steak, Alexander’s has earned numerous awards including a Michelin star for three consecutive years from 2011. The Cupertino branch where it started in 2005 has become a famous place for bigwigs to celebrate and close big business transactions. So even if an adjustment for Japan market becomes necessary, it has to be more about the meat quality.

Yoshiro Nakabe, director of K.K. M.R.S., the company bringing the American chain to Japan, said in a press release that they will replicate Alexander’s 28-day unique aging technique but that ‘it may not be possible on opening day because of stringent meat selection process.’

cotton-candy500 finest wines in the world including cult wines will be on stock for a luxurious dining experience. A dinner at Alexander’s also buys you a “happy ending”, the name of its cotton candy dessert.

Tokyo’s soon-to-open Alexander’s Steakhouse will be located on the luxurious 42nd floor of Shiodome City Center overlooking the Tokyo Bay and Tokyo Tower.
