Daytrippers – ’tis the season for Mikans!

By on October 19, 2016

From early October until late November is the best time of the year to eat fresh mikans (or easy-peeling Japanese oranges) straight off the tree. Pack up on vitamin C in readiness for the coming chilly months. Head out to the best orange farms one weekend and stuff yourself with all-you-can-eat sweet Japanese oranges.

Seedless membrane and fleshy pulp are what make ‘mikans’ loved by kids and adults in Japan. Fruit picking is generally a favorite pastime for families, so you can bet that the popular mikan farms are packed on weekends. Here are some of the farms nearest to Tokyo.
