Family Dining: Salud Familia Daikanyama

By on December 24, 2016

Salud familia” which translates to ‘family health’ can easily be mistaken for a clinic. It’s not. It’s a Spanish trattoria style restaurant that opened last year in October.

If you’re wondering why Spain ranks second behind only Japan for longevity, the secret could be in its healthy diet. The family-friendly Spanish restaurant just 2 minutes stroll from Daikanyama station, aims to promote just that.

MENU: There may not be much ‘cutting edge’ cuisine here but all the Spanish classic dishes from the popular seafood paella (¥1,200) and Sauteed Iberico pork (¥1,800) to a whole roast chicken (¥2,800) and artisanal cheese and ham (¥780 – ¥1,800) are more than enough to keep the family’s dining experience pleasant. This Spanish restaurant has an extensive list of wines and beer but what got us interested are the house’s fruit punch bowls that bring out the best flavors in paella. There are 3 kinds of punch bowls: Fresh Mojito (¥2,800), Apple and Ginger (¥2,800), and Passion fruits & Lemon Grass (¥3,000).

KIDS: There is no such thing as kiddy meals in Spain. Children often eat what their parents do. So don’t expect an extensive menu for kids apart from 4 kinds that have nothing to do with Spanish cuisine:
Hamburger plate ¥700, seafood fries plate ¥700, omelet rice ¥700, and mixed plate ¥850(hamburger, fries, veggies).

As a side note, the menu is only in Japanese but with or without it, the restaurant is wholesome and comfortable for either lunch or dinner.
