Where Moomin Family Lives

By on April 11, 2017
Want to take the kids out to Moomin land?

Technically, it’s called Akebono Kodomo no Mori Koen (Akebono Children’s Forest Park) where the beloved Swedish cartoon character Moomintroll and his dad, Moominpappa, and mom, Moominmamma supposedly live. Except that they are nowhere in sight.

Akebono Kodomo no Mori Koen is  a Moomin theme park created for kids with charming and real houses like the one you see in cartoons. The whole park sits on a 7.6-hectare of land with 4 houses: Mooomin’s, the Water Ark Hut, Children’s Theatre and Forest House.

The Moomin family’s house is shaped like a gigantic mushroom with small windows and even real plants on the roof. The interior is divided into complicated layers where kids can romp and play. Next to the Wataru Hut is a small pond where Snufkin, Moomin’s neighbor goes for fishing.

Overall, it’s a great place to spend a weekend with young children.
