Elba Ramalho performs for Tokyo at the Brazilian Festival

Dubbed as “The Queen of Forró,” (a music genre unique to Northeastern Brazil),  Elba performs live at the Brazilian Festival in Yoyogi Park sponsored by the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Japan on July 15 and 16.

Elba Ramalho is Brazil’s noted songwriter, poetress and actress.

Her career as a professional singer spans more than three decades across the world including Japan, the United States, Portugal, France, Spain, Switzerland, China and etc. 

This year’s carnival will be an extravaganza of infectious Brazilian rhythm and beats. The famous vocalist pays tribute to various Brazilian music genres ranging from MPB (Musica popular brasileira) and Bossa Nova (in the soothing style of Roberto Bion) to Frevo (Brazilian carnival) and Forro, a musical style with African, European and Amerindian roots. Her works over the years have earned her numerous accolades including the 2008 Latin Grammy Award for Best Album.

In addition to a number of  22 delicious Brazilian food stalls , 13 pop-up stores,  fashion and musical shows, the festival will also feature a live Capoeira performance.  Don’t miss it!
