Book-themed lounging room for rent by the hour

Inspired by Book and Bed hotel that opened last year in Tokyo, Tsutaya Book Apartment launches a similar  book-themed relaxation space in Shinjuku Dec. 6 (Wed).

Tsutaya Book Apartment is a book-themed lounging room located on the 4th, 5th, and 6th  floors of Shinjuku Minimville I and II Buildings.

Whether you want to kill time, relax with a book, or do unfinished work in a more relaxed setting, this place is perfect.  Walk-in customers can rent a corner by the hour for ¥500 or  ¥2,800 (6 hours) and ¥5,500 (12 hours).

Books and magazines of all genres are available and some may be purchased in cash or T points for Tsutaya cardholders.  This type of arrangement is increasingly becoming popular among telecommuters in Tokyo who prefer to work in a wifi ready environment equipped with printers, power supplies, iMacs and iPads with stationery goods as well.

 

The place open 24/7 is equipped with printers, power supplies, iMacs and iPads as well as  stationeries.

The 5th and 6th floors are exclusively for women’s use.  It is equipped with shower and locker rooms. Shoes may not be worn inside the space but women can  change into a lounge wear for an  extra ¥1,000.

Shower is free for 6-hour or 12-hour users.

A bar is also located on the basement floor of a building.
