Here is a collection of miscellaneous helpful information that you may not already know about living in Tokyo!
You can get propane gas tanks delivered for your gas grill here in Tokyo? One service is Shutoken Gas (3299-1611), with limited English; Hatsudai, Shibuya-ku. Another is Fuji Gas (3305-3711), with limited English; Kamisoshigaya, Setagaya-ku: A third is Asada Shoten (03-3443-7481).
There is a great ice skating rink for the whole family: Meiji-Jingu Ice-Skating Rink near the National Stadium. You can get there from Sendagaya station, Kokuritsu-kyogijo station or, if you go by bus, take #77 to the end of the line. It is open weekdays 12pm-6pm, weekends and holidays 10am-6pm. Fees are: until 3 pm adults ¥1800, children ¥1400, after 3 pm, adults ¥1500, children ¥1200. For questions, call 3403-3458.
There are great places to go for larger or longer sizes for women, such as Isetan 8th floor (in Shinjuku), the Gap and Uni Qlo.
A wonderful resource for travelers in Japan is the Tourist Information Center (TIC). They provide free maps and information when you visit the center. They also help you plan trips anywhere in Japan (10 Fl., Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan Bldg., 2-10-1 Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, tel.: 3201-3331. Office hours: Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day year-round.). You can drive and park there for a fee or take the subway to Yurakucho station, which is just north of TIC, across the street. TIC is affiliated with Japan National Tourist Organization and additional information can be obtained from their website (including a map to TIC!): www.jnto.go.jp
